Iran Ports Authority Reports US Projectile Strike on Chabahar Maritime Traffic Center

Sanaa: The maritime traffic control center at Chabahar Port in southeastern Iran was struck by US projectiles during overnight attacks, causing structural damage, as stated by the Ports and Maritime Affairs authority in Sistan and Baluchestan.

According to Anadolu Agency, the authority's public relations department released a statement confirming that the port's maritime traffic control center was targeted following US attacks on Chabahar Port. The maritime watchtower, primarily used for search and rescue operations for fishermen and securing maritime trade, was identified as a civilian facility. No casualties were reported in the statement.

This incident follows a report from Fars News Agency, which cited a provincial official stating that a wheat storage silo and another site in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province were also hit by US projectiles overnight. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that strikes on Iran would continue and intensify in the coming days, warning that the US would start targeting Iran's power plants and bridges next week unless Tehran returned to the negotiating table.

Tensions between the US and Iran have heightened recently over the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides engaging in exchanges despite a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding aimed at resolving the conflict and achieving a lasting peace agreement. Iran has also sent a letter to the UN, accusing the US of violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
