Iran Prepares to Unveil New Weapon Dubbed ‘Father of All Bombs’

Tehran:Iran is reportedly on the verge of unveiling a new weapon, described as the 'father of all bombs,' according to a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Hossein Mohebi, the IRGC spokesperson, announced that Iran is in the preparatory stages of unveiling this new weapon, which is seen as a novel development for their adversaries. However, Mohebi did not provide additional details about the weapon.

The announcement comes amid increased tensions, as U.S. President Donald Trump recently hinted at the potential use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb, also known as the 'mother of all bombs,' against Iranian nuclear sites. The GBU-43/B, weighing approximately 9,800 kilograms, is noted as one of the largest non-nuclear bombs in the U.S. arsenal and was first deployed in Afghanistan in April 2017.

In related developments, Mohebi stated that Iran's missile stockpile has grown by 1.5 times following a 12-day war with Israel in June 2025. Although specific figures were not disclosed, he emphasized improvements in the missiles' range, destructive power, and accuracy.

Mohebi further elaborated on Iran's evolving defense strategy, indicating a shift towards establishing permanent deterrence. He noted that Iran's doctrine now includes an offensive stance, promising retaliatory and asymmetric warfare measures in response to any attack.

The backdrop of these military developments includes the recent conflict initiated by Israel and the U.S. against Iran on February 28, which saw retaliatory attacks by Tehran on Israeli and U.S. facilities in the region. Efforts to negotiate between Washington and Tehran were initiated in June but ultimately fell apart due to disagreements over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
