Tehran: Iranian military officials have firmly denied US President Donald Trump's assertion that Tehran requested a pause in a planned US attack, labeling it a 'lie.' Additionally, sources have refuted reports suggesting an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian officials stated that Trump's claims are merely an attempt to manipulate Gulf rulers using intimidation. They emphasized that Iran's forces are maintaining the highest level of readiness and are prepared for any eventuality. The officials warned that if a confrontation becomes unavoidable, it will reveal who truly holds power.

A source linked to Iran's negotiating team also denied any agreement regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by the semi-official Fars News Agency. Meanwhile, a military source informed Fars that the strategic waterway would remain closed unless the US ceases its 'hostile actions.' Only vessels approved by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps would be permitted passage.

President Trump claimed on Saturday that he had canceled a planned military strike after receiving requests from Tehran and other Middle Eastern countries to allow time for a peace deal framework. He mentioned that Israel had joined the commitment. On Truth Social, Trump asserted that the sides had agreed to terms that included the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and ending Iran's nuclear threat.
