Tehran:Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated on Tuesday that there has been no new progress in the discussions regarding a potential deal with the United States.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, Baqaei mentioned that the talks with the US are still proceeding through mediators. He expressed skepticism about America's commitment to diplomacy, citing past experiences. Additionally, he noted that Iran's defense preparations are at a heightened state in anticipation of any potential renewed hostilities.
The Middle East has experienced sustained tensions following attacks by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28. In response, Tehran targeted Israeli and US assets in the region, leading to a ceasefire agreement in April. Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Washington and Tehran on June 18 concerning freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. However, the implementation of this agreement has been hindered by disagreements over security issues in the waterway.
