Iran-United States Potential Memorandum Includes Ending War on All Fronts

Tehran: A potential memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States includes a commitment to end the war on all fronts, as reported by Tasnim news agency on Sunday. The agreement outlines significant terms, including halting Israel's attacks in Lebanon and Washington's commitment to waive sanctions on Iran's oil during negotiations.

According to Anadolu Agency, if the agreement is reached, the number of ships allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz would be restored to pre-war levels within 30 days, although the strait will not return fully to its pre-war status. Iran emphasizes the enforcement of its sovereign rights over the strait, with details to be announced later.

Iran also insists on at least a partial release of its frozen assets, with the potential deal incorporating a 60-day negotiation window on Iran's nuclear program. Tehran calls for lifting the US blockade of its ports, arguing that no changes will be made in the strait if the blockade remains.

Any changes to navigation and transit through the strategic waterway will depend on the implementation of the US's commitments in the memorandum, the report stated. US President Donald Trump remarked on Saturday that an agreement with Iran to end the war was "largely negotiated" and awaited finalization. The breakthrough follows Pakistan army chief Asim Munir's visit to Tehran, his second in recent weeks. A ceasefire in the conflict, which began on February 28, was first mediated by Pakistan on April 8.
