Tehran: Iran issued a stern warning on Friday, stating that European nations would become 'legitimate targets' if they align themselves with the United States and Israel in military actions against Iran. According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi, in an interview with France 24, emphasized that Tehran had already cautioned European states about their potential involvement in the ongoing conflict. Takht-Ravanchi stated, "We have already informed the Europeans and everybody else that they should be careful not to be involved in this war of aggression against Iran." He further warned that any country joining the US and Israel in aggression against Iran would also face retaliation. "They will also be legitimate targets for Iran's retaliation," he added. The remarks from Iran's deputy foreign minister come as France has reportedly increased its military presence in the Mediterranean. The joint defense staff announced that France is deploying the Tonnerre, an amphibious hel icopter carrier, which will join the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in the region. The Charles de Gaulle had previously been stationed in the Baltic Sea. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is bolstering its military footprint in the Gulf region. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer engaged in discussions with Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, proposing the deployment of jets to provide defensive air cover. Additionally, Starmer declared that four more Typhoon fighter jets would be dispatched to Qatar, responding to requests from regional allies. This move, he noted, is part of efforts "to strengthen our defensive operations in Qatar and across the region." Tensions have sharply escalated following a large-scale attack by the US and Israel on Iran last Saturday. The attack resulted in over 1,000 fatalities, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, more than 150 schoolgirls, and senior military officials. In retaliation, Iran has launched extensive attacks targeting US bases, diplomatic facilities, and m ilitary personnel throughout the region, as well as several Israeli cities. The conflict continues to escalate with ongoing hostilities.
