Muscat: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi met to exchange views on advancing the US-Iran talks, which are scheduled to occur later today. The meeting underscored the strategic role of Oman in facilitating these crucial discussions, as reported by Iran's state news agency IRNA.

According to Anadolu Agency, Araghchi expressed Tehran's readiness to defend its sovereignty and national security. He also conveyed appreciation for Oman's efforts in hosting and facilitating the talks with Washington. Al Busaidi emphasized the commitment of regional countries to prevent any escalation of tensions and expressed hopes that the discussions would lead to a lasting understanding between the US and Iran.

During their meeting, Araghchi and Al Busaidi explored Iran's viewpoints, proposals, and demands pertinent to the negotiations with the US. Iran will be represented by a delegation led by Araghchi, which includes Deputy for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, Deputy for Economic Affairs Hamid Ghanbari, and other Iranian diplomats.

The US delegation will feature Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and assistant. Their involvement highlights the significance of the talks and the potential for impactful diplomatic engagement.
