Geneva: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Monday that the heads of the Iranian and US negotiating delegations are likely to convene in Switzerland on Friday ahead of signing a memorandum of understanding and initiating a new round of discussions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Araghchi made this statement following a joint meeting with members of parliament's Economic Commission. He indicated that the anticipated meeting in Switzerland on Friday may result in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, paving the way for the first round of subsequent negotiations.

Araghchi mentioned that the agreement could open up economic opportunities for Iran. However, he emphasized that Iran's economy should not become reliant on negotiations with the US. He highlighted past experiences of unfulfilled commitments, failed implementations, and abandoned deals, suggesting that Iran is planning its negotiation and implementation strategies for any future agreements based on these lessons.

He further noted that while Iran aims to maximize economic opportunities from any agreement, it will not allow such opportunities to dictate its foreign policy.
