Tehran: Iranian forces have announced that they intercepted an oil tanker attempting to enter the Strait of Hormuz without proper coordination. The incident was confirmed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, which linked the earlier reported explosions off the southern coast of Sirik to the interception attempt.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian state television reported that the IRGC Navy took action to prevent the tanker from entering the critical waterway, emphasizing that such measures are part of their ongoing efforts to maintain control and order in the region. The IRGC Navy asserted its commitment to continue monitoring the Strait of Hormuz and warned that it would handle any unauthorized crossings with "extreme firmness."

The situation unfolded shortly after reports of explosions near Sirik and Bandar Abbas, which initially had unclear origins. These developments coincided with statements from US President Donald Trump, who revealed that he had called off planned strikes on Iran and mentioned that discussions toward a potential agreement were progressing.
