Beirut: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beirut for an official visit, highlighting Tehran’s policy of non-interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs.

According to Anadolu Agency, upon his arrival at Rafik Hariri International Airport, Araghchi stated that Iran prioritizes neighboring countries and regional friends in its foreign policy. He emphasized that Iran’s relations with Lebanon are historical and have always been based on mutual respect.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that while Iran supports its friends in Lebanon, it does not interfere in its internal matters. He noted that no country has the right to interfere in the affairs of any state in the region.

During a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to Lebanon’s independence and efforts to end Israeli occupation, as reported by Lebanon’s state news agency NNA. He stated that Iran’s support aligns with the good relations between the two countries and respects the principle of non-interference in domestic politics.

President Aoun expressed Lebanon’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Iran, emphasizing dialogue as a means to resolve contentious issues and rejecting violence and escalation. He highlighted the importance of rebuilding Lebanon post-Israeli war in collaboration with friendly countries.

Araghchi also held discussions with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi on bilateral relations and regional developments. Raggi described the talks as frank and direct, underscoring Lebanon’s diplomatic efforts to reclaim Israeli-occupied territories and restore full state authority, including exclusive state control over arms. He stressed Beirut’s reliance on Iran’s commitment to Lebanon’s security and stability.

During his stay in Lebanon, Araghchi is scheduled to meet with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
