Tehran: The Iranian army reportedly shot down two Israeli fighter jets that were involved in airstrikes on Iranian territory, and an Israeli woman pilot has been taken into custody, as reported by the Iranian Tasnim news agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Iranian army has not officially confirmed the downing of the jets. However, Tasnim news agency also mentioned the downing of a separate Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the central city of Qom.

In response to these reports, Israeli army spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee denied the claims, labeling them as 'completely baseless' and accused Iranian media of fabricating the information.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran makes it impossible to independently verify the claims and counterclaims made by both sides.

Meanwhile, Iran's Civil Aviation Organization has issued a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) declaring the closure of the country's airspace to all flights until 2.00 pm local time on Saturday, as reported by the state news agency IRNA.
