Isfahan: Iranian media reported explosions in the central city of Isfahan on Wednesday evening, with air defense systems activated in several areas in the country despite a two-week ceasefire with the United States.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Mehr News Agency stated that explosions were heard in Isfahan, without providing details about the cause or any potential damage. The report indicated that the country’s air defense systems were activated in several Iranian cities, including Kerman, Isfahan, Parand, and Robat Karim.
Following Pakistani mediation, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran. He mentioned that Tehran presented a ‘workable’ 10-point proposal for negotiations, which led to this temporary truce.
The announcement of the ceasefire came just under two hours before the expiration of a deadline that President Trump had repeatedly extended. The deadline urged Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept an agreement, or face what Trump described as ‘the
destruction of an entire civilization.’
