Ankara: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the need for Muslim states to ensure their territories are not used as launchpads for attacks against fellow Muslim nations. This call was made during his address at the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, broadcasted on Iranian state television.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Pezeshkian clarified that defending Iran should not be misconstrued as hostility towards other Muslim or neighboring countries. He stressed the importance of Islamic countries not compromising their neighbors' security for their own safety. The president also highlighted the ongoing conflict with the US, mentioning that significant US and Israeli attacks on Iran occurred simultaneously with diplomatic negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

The conference, attended by approximately 600 domestic and international guests from 40 countries, including Iraq, Pakistan, Trkiye, Lebanon, and Afghanistan, is set to continue through Sunday. Events are scheduled in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, with specialized meetings also taking place in various provinces such as West Azerbaijan, Kordestan, Golestan, and Razavi Khorasan.
