Tehran:Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the United States cannot expect to engage in dialogue with Iran while simultaneously issuing threats.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, Pezeshkian emphasized that Washington must acknowledge Iran's rights and cease its aggressive actions before any meaningful talks can occur. He criticized the US for blocking all avenues of communication while expecting negotiations to proceed.
Pezeshkian accused the US of failing to uphold its commitments, stating that entering into agreements should be taken seriously and once made, should be honored until completion, even if they become disadvantageous.
The situation in the Middle East has been tense since the US and Israel initiated conflict with Iran on February 28. In response, Tehran launched missile and drone attacks across the region and closed the Strait of Hormuz, prompting the US to impose a naval blockade on Iranian ports. Although a memorandum of understanding was signed between the US and Iran in June regarding navigation freedom in the strait, its implementation has faced challenges due to security disagreements.
