Brussels: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced Friday that it intercepted four ships attempting to navigate through the Strait of Hormuz, alleging that the vessels were operating with support from the US military.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC Navy's statement, disseminated by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, indicated that the ships were stopped during a coordinated missile and drone operation in the strategically significant waterway. However, the statement did not disclose specifics about the ships' identities, ownership, or intended destinations, nor did it elaborate on the conditions leading to the interception.

The IRGC Navy issued a warning to the vessels' owners, advising against depending on what it termed as "baseless support" from the US military and urging compliance with its directives. Additionally, it cautioned leaders of certain Persian Gulf nations against being swayed by US backing.

This development occurs against a backdrop of escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, with recent military exchanges between the US and Iran following the breakdown of a ceasefire that had been mediated by Pakistan.
