Iran’s IRGC Claims Shooting Down US Drone in Bandar Abbas

Sanaa: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) shot down a US Lucas-type drone in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the drone was "destroyed" by the IRGC firing systems, as reported by the semi-official Fars News Agency. There has been no response from US officials regarding the Iranian claim about the incident.

Earlier on Wednesday, Iranian media reported a US strike on Hengam Island in southern Iran, highlighting the ongoing military escalation between Washington and Tehran in the Middle East. This incident marks a continuation of recent exchanges of attacks between the two nations.

Despite a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding aimed at ending their military conflict and reaching a lasting peace agreement, tensions between the US and Iran have persisted, with recent events further aggravating the situation.
