Tehran: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has categorically dismissed claims by US President Donald Trump regarding the existence of backchannel talks between Washington and IRGC officials concerning war-related matters. The IRGC's response came following Trump's assertion about ongoing direct communications with Iran's military officials.

According to Anadolu Agency, IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohibbi addressed these accusations in an interview with Iran's Tasnim news agency. Mohibbi firmly stated, "No talks are taking place between IRGC officials and the Americans," labeling Trump's statements as 'lies' and 'fantasies born of delusions and nightmares resulting from defeat and desperation in the war.'

Mohibbi further clarified that diplomatic engagements fall under the jurisdiction of other Iranian state bodies and are not within the IRGC's scope. He emphasized, "According to the information we have and statements by Foreign Ministry officials, no talks are currently taking place with the Americans - even at that level." He also criticized Trump's remarks as an attempt to manipulate global energy prices, asserting, "Trump's fantasies will not help him on the battlefield."

Earlier on Monday, President Trump had informed reporters that his administration was maintaining a 'backchannel with the IRGC,' claiming direct discussions with IRGC representatives in Iran. However, the IRGC has swiftly refuted these allegations, maintaining that no such communication is occurring.
