Tehran: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that economic warfare is the 'main battlefield' in its confrontation with the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC accused Washington of implementing a complex sanction regime designed to 'spread despair among the people, put pressure on living conditions, and weaken social trust.' The IRGC emphasized that all government institutions, including those responsible for the economy, trade, oil, industry, agriculture, banking, and diplomacy, are crucial in mitigating the sanctions' effects. These bodies are tasked with managing markets, securing essential goods, controlling inflation, and creating employment opportunities.

The IRGC affirmed its readiness for strategic cooperation with President Masoud Pezeshkian's government, highlighting that coordination between the IRGC and government is vital to overcoming the sanctions and bolstering national economic resilience. The organization further expressed its willingness to collaborate with the government across all necessary sectors to address the challenging conditions in Iran.

Beyond its military endeavors, the IRGC holds a significant economic footprint in Iran, with investments spanning banking, construction, heavy industry, petrochemicals, automotive manufacturing, insurance, trade, media, food, and telecommunications. The IRGC's influence extends into both domestic and foreign policies of Iran.

The IRGC's statements followed a warning from US President Donald Trump last week, who indicated potential economic repercussions for Iranian trade partners as part of his strategy to isolate Tehran through new economic sanctions.
