Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Condemn US Attack on Larak Island, Vow Retaliation

Ankara: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported on Sunday that a US military strike on Larak Island, situated in southern Iran, resulted in multiple casualties among its fighters and local citizens. The IRGC has vowed to retaliate and hold the aggressors accountable for this act.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC's public relations department released a statement accusing the United States of conducting an aggressive operation on the strategically significant Larak Island, located in Hormozgan province. The statement condemned the US for what it described as an attempt to reassert its influence in the region amidst its own internal challenges and diminished standing among neighboring countries.

The statement from the IRGC highlighted the attack as a deliberate act aimed at destabilizing the region. It described the US as an "American-Zionist enemy" attempting to justify its actions before the global audience through aggression that resulted in both fatalities and injuries.

Local media outlets, including the Fars news agency, reported that residents near Larak Island heard an explosion, though initial details about the incident's specifics remained uncertain. Meanwhile, Tasnim news agency suggested that early evidence pointed to a drone strike targeting the island, which is of strategic importance due to its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz.

These Iranian allegations followed reports from US media indicating that American forces had launched a strike on Larak Island, allegedly to prevent forces there from launching rockets equipped with mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
