Tehran: Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced on Sunday that disputes between Tehran and Washington are 'insoluble,' asserting that Iran 'will not subdue' to the US. 'Enemies have failed to weaken Iran through war,' Khamenei stated in remarks broadcasted by state media. He also mentioned unspecified 'attempts to create division inside Iran,' without detailing the nature or origin of these attempts.

According to Anadolu Agency, Khamenei's comments came in response to President Donald Trump's calls for Iran to 'surrender.' The Iranian leader highlighted that the Iranian people 'are deeply offended by such a great insult and will stand with all its strength against those who harbor such a false expectation.' Trump had previously urged Tehran in June to agree to 'unconditional surrender' to US demands, as reported by various media outlets.

Facing internal criticism over Tehran's refusal to engage in direct nuclear negotiations with Washington, Khamenei described the disputes as 'insoluble' and criticized proponents of direct talks with the US as 'shallow-minded.' He attributed the ongoing conflict with the US to what he described as Washington's 'aggressive posture.'

Khamenei emphasized that 'national unity' within Iran has grown stronger in response to 'US and Israeli aggression,' stressing the importance of maintaining this unity. Tensions between the nations escalated in June when Israel launched a surprise attack on Tehran on June 13, targeting military, nuclear, and civilian sites as well as senior commanders and nuclear scientists.

Iran responded with missile and drone strikes, while the US conducted bombings on three Iranian nuclear facilities. The 12-day conflict concluded under a US-brokered ceasefire on June 24.
