Kirkuk: Iraq said its forces had destroyed an ISIS/Daesh hideout in airstrikes in the northern Kirkuk province.

According to Anadolu Agency, the operation was part of ongoing intelligence efforts to pursue the remnants of terrorism and was based on precise information from the Military Intelligence Directorate, as stated by the Security Media Cell in a statement released late Monday. The statement detailed that ISIS terrorists were located inside a hideout in Wadi Zghitoun, Kirkuk, prompting Iraqi F-16 jets to execute two airstrikes on the location.

The strikes resulted in the complete destruction of the hideout and the elimination of all terrorist elements within it, though the specific number of individuals was not disclosed. Iraq had previously declared victory over ISIS in December 2017, following years of conflict with the terrorist organization.

Despite this declaration, ISIS cells continue to conduct sporadic attacks across parts of northern, western, and eastern Iraq. In response, Iraqi forces persist in their military and security operations to combat the remaining elements of the group.
