Ankara: Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on Tuesday announced that Iraq is capable of supplying up to 1 million barrels of oil per day to Trkiye. This development highlights the strengthening energy partnership between the two nations during discussions held with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to Anadolu Agency, the confirmation came after Erdogan mentioned the potential oil supply during a joint news conference at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. Al-Zaidi confirmed the figure, stating, "Yes, that's correct, 1 million." The meeting underscored the commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including energy, transportation, education, water resources, and the Development Road Project.

Al-Zaidi emphasized that the visit was not merely a matter of protocol but a testament to the enduring relations between Iraq and Trkiye, which have historical roots. He expressed Iraq's desire for a partnership based on brotherhood, particularly concerning the Development Road Project. This major infrastructure initiative aims to connect the Gulf with global markets through Iraq, symbolizing economic collaboration between the neighboring countries.

Describing the Development Road Project as a "third river" of economic cooperation, al-Zaidi highlighted its significance as a natural extension of the geographical connection provided by the two rivers, aiming to boost economic ties between Iraq and Trkiye.
