Ankara: Authorities in Iraq have uncovered a site within the country used to launch drones, sparking an investigation aimed at identifying the perpetrators. Baghdad has emphasized its commitment to regional peace, with Lt. Gen. Saad Maan, head of Iraq's Security Media Cell, affirming that the nation does not condone attacks on neighboring countries and aims to serve as a "positive point of convergence" in the Middle East.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iraq has assured Saudi Arabia of its respect for all neighboring nations and has communicated with Riyadh regarding the steps taken by the Iraqi government. An intelligence committee, formed to probe recent assaults on Saudi territory, discovered the launch site within Iraqi borders. Lt. Gen. Maan stated that intelligence, technical teams, and forensic experts are currently examining evidence, including fingerprints, to identify those responsible for the attacks.

The focus of the investigation is to uncover the identities of the attackers and to ensure that no party can manipulate the situation or draw Iraq into an unwanted conflict. This development follows recent drone strikes originating from Iraq that targeted Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline in the regions of Riyadh and Madinah. These attacks resulted in injuries and damage, leading to a temporary shutdown of the pipeline as a precautionary measure.

Saudi Arabia, in response to Baghdad's commitment to investigate and prevent further attacks from Iraqi soil, has decided not to retaliate "at this stage." The situation underscores the delicate balance Iraq must maintain in its relations with neighboring countries while ensuring its territory is not used for hostile acts.
