Baghdad: Iraq on Monday reiterated its rejection of using its territory for launching attacks against its neighbours. This came during a meeting in Baghdad between Undersecretary of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, and Kuwaiti Ambassador Mohammad Hassan Al-Zaman.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bahr Al-Uloom emphasized that Iraq opposes the logic of war and, in particular, the use of its land as a base for targeting neighbouring countries. He assured that the Iraqi government is implementing all necessary measures to pursue those responsible for any actions damaging Iraq's interests and its relations with its neighbours.

The Kuwaiti ambassador expressed his nation's concerns about Iranian attacks on the Gulf nation and provided information regarding attacks originating from Iraqi territory. He urged Baghdad to take action to end these attacks to maintain the fraternal relations between the two countries.

The statement highlighted that both Iraq and Kuwait are directly affected by the ongoing regional escalation, stressing the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure regional security and manage the current crisis. Tensions have increased since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran, resulting in over 1,200 casualties, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Tehran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
