Iraqi Airstrikes Destroy ISIS Position in Diyala Province

Hanoi:Diyala Iraqi F-16 fighter jets conducted two airstrikes that destroyed an ISIS position in the eastern province of Diyala, security officials announced on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the strikes targeted the ISIS group in the Narin area. This operation was reported by Iraq's Security Media Cell through the official Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The airstrikes were executed based on intelligence from the Military Intelligence Directorate and coordinated with the military's aerial reconnaissance and surveillance center. The Security Media Cell confirmed the complete destruction of the position but did not provide details on any casualties, stating that further information would be shared later.

These strikes occurred shortly after the official end of the US-led coalition's mission against ISIS in Iraq on September 30, nearly 12 years after it began. Iraq had declared victory over ISIS in December 2017 after reclaiming all territory held by the group, yet operations against remaining ISIS fighters have continued.
