Beirut: The Israeli army launched airstrikes targeting four towns in southern Lebanon after issuing evacuation orders for the residents. The strikes were aimed at purported weapons storage facilities belonging to Hezbollah.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli military justified the attacks as a response to what they described as Hezbollah's efforts to rebuild its activities in the region. Military spokesman Avichay Adraee directed the evacuation of Jbaa, Mahrouneh, Mjadel, and Baraachit, warning residents to vacate their homes immediately.

There has been no official response from Hezbollah or the Lebanese authorities regarding the Israeli airstrikes. The assault occurred a day after Israeli and Lebanese delegations attended a ceasefire monitoring committee meeting in Naqoura, which ended with a consensus on broader political and technical engagement.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that since a ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024, at least 335 people have been killed, and 973 injured by Israeli actions. UNIFIL has recorded over 10,000 Israeli air and ground violations since the ceasefire. Despite an agreement for the Israeli army to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January, they continue to maintain a presence at five border outposts.
