Tel aviv: Israeli police arrested a couple suspected of spying for Iran, authorities said on Tuesday. A police statement said the couple were residents of the central city of Ra'anana and were arrested in a joint operation with the Shin Bet security service.

According to Anadolu Agency, police raided the couple's home on Monday and seized several mobile phones, computers, and additional technological equipment, along with communications devices. The two suspects, both in their 30s, were taken into custody for further interrogation and were scheduled to appear in court later Tuesday for a hearing on extending their detention.

This arrest marks the second espionage-related detention disclosed in as many days. On Monday, police announced the detention of three other Israelis in a separate investigation involving similar suspicions. There was no comment from Iranian authorities on the report.

Israeli police have previously reported arrests of citizens accused of espionage during the country's recent conflict with Iran. The conflict between Israel and Iran erupted on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian sites, resulting in significant casualties as reported by the Health Ministry.

Tehran responded with retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Israel, causing further casualties, according to figures released by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The ongoing tensions underscore the espionage concerns and the recent arrests highlight the volatile nature of the current geopolitical climate.
