Israel Confiscates 8.1 Acres of Land in Nablus Village for Security Reasons

Nablus: Israeli authorities issued an order to clear 33 dunams (8.1 acres) of land in the village of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, located in southern Nablus in the occupied West Bank. This order includes the removal of hundreds of fruit trees, primarily olive and almond trees, which are situated along the main Ramallah-Nablus road, close to the village’s girls’ secondary school and residential homes.

According to Anadolu Agency, the decision was reportedly made under the pretext of ‘providing security for settlers.’ Local sources have indicated that this action will impact over 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) of agricultural land in the village plain. The decision has been met with concern, as it threatens the livelihoods of local residents who rely on this land for agriculture.

Israeli forces have increased their operations against Palestinians in the West Bank, conducting raids on cities, refugee camps, and towns, accompanied by mass arrest campaigns. Since October 2023, these actions have resulted in the deaths of more than 1,147 Palestinians, injuries to approximately 11,750 individuals, and the arrest of around 22,000 people, based on Palestinian figures.
