Tel Aviv: The Israeli army announced Tuesday that it has intercepted four Iranian drones, just hours before a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran is expected to take effect.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli Air Force successfully intercepted four drones that were launched from Iran. Three of these drones were intercepted before they could enter Israeli territory, while the fourth was shot down in the southern Golan Heights.

The Israeli army's statement highlighted that the interceptions were carried out following warnings of drone infiltration in the southern Golan Heights. The situation has unfolded amidst anticipation of a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, which was announced by US President Donald Trump. The ceasefire aims to halt the hostilities after 12 days of conflict between the two nations.

Iran has not yet issued any response to the interception of its drones. The ceasefire deal, reportedly mediated by Qatar, is anticipated to take effect soon, although officials from both Iran and Israel have not publicly confirmed the agreement.
