Hebron: The Israeli army on Monday issued six demolition notices for Palestinian homes, water wells, and agricultural facilities in the village of Asfi, located south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

According to Anadolu Agency, Nidal Younis, head of the Masafer Yatta local council, reported that the Israeli army distributed these demolition notices to six Palestinian families residing in Asfi. The orders pertain to six tents and homes comprising one or several rooms, five water wells, and a tin shack used for storing animal feed and providing shelter to livestock.

The demolition notices follow the recent rejection of an urban development plan for Asfi by Israeli authorities, a plan that had been prepared by the local council. Younis expressed that the village residents are experiencing fear and uncertainty, anticipating that the demolitions could be carried out at any moment.

Since the onset of Israel's operations in Gaza in October 2023, the Israeli army has executed over 1,014 demolitions across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. These actions have affected 3,679 structures, including 1,288 inhabited homes and 244 uninhabited ones, while also issuing 1,667 demolition notices for various facilities, as reported by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, a Palestinian government body.

Local authorities have also reported significant casualties and arrests in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza conflict began two years ago. More than 1,056 Palestinians have been killed, approximately 10,300 wounded, and over 20,000 arrested, including 1,600 children.

In a significant development last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the withdrawal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
