Quneitra: Israeli forces conducted operations in Syria's Quneitra countryside, targeting forest areas near the villages of Koudna and Tell Ahmar al-Sharqi with artillery shells. The raid occurred on Saturday, where heavy fire was reported, as per SANA news agency.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli operations in southern Syria have become more frequent in recent months, with actions including raids, home searches, and arrests of civilians, which notably include children and shepherds. These operations come in the wake of the ousting of Bashar Al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, after which Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void and moved into the Syrian buffer zone.
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has acknowledged the ongoing talks with Israel, though he noted that the discussions are progressing with difficulty. The primary issue lies in Israel's insistence on maintaining a presence on Syrian territory, complicating the diplomatic efforts between the two nations.
