Beirut: A Lebanese civilian lost their life following an Israeli airstrike on the southern town of Braachit. In a separate incident, a local official from Dhayra was critically injured by Israeli gunfire, marking another violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two nations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center confirmed that the airstrike targeted a vehicle in Braachit, resulting in one fatality. Meanwhile, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that Bassam Sweid, a town council member from Dhayra, was shot twice by Israeli forces while traveling to the town. Sweid was taken to a hospital in the Tyre district and remains in critical condition.

The Lebanese National News Agency described the shooting of Sweid as a significant breach of the ceasefire. On the same day, Israeli warplanes conducted two additional airstrikes in southern Lebanon, though no casualties were reported from these attacks.

The cross-border conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated into full-scale warfare last September, leading to a ceasefire in November. Despite the truce, Israeli forces have continued frequent attacks in southern Lebanon, citing Hezbollah activities as justification.

Lebanese authorities have documented nearly 3,000 violations of the ceasefire by Israeli forces, resulting in the deaths of at least 259 people and injuries to more than 562. Under the ceasefire terms, Israel was expected to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26, but the deadline was extended to February 18 after non-compliance from Tel Aviv. Israeli military presence persists at five border outposts.
