Israeli Airstrike Kills Civilian in Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Violation

Tyre: An Israeli airstrike killed a civilian in southern Lebanon on Sunday, marking the latest breach of a ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported. The ministry stated that the fatality occurred when a car was targeted in Naqoura, a town located in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.

According to Anadolu Agency, another individual was injured due to the explosion of unexploded ordnance in Aitaroun, situated in the Bint Jbeil district. The Israeli army has not provided any immediate comments on the incident.

Israel has been conducting airstrikes in Lebanon, citing the targeting of Hezbollah infrastructure despite the ceasefire that began in November 2024. The terms of the truce required the Israeli army to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by January 2025. However, Israel has only partially withdrawn its troops and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
