Beirut: At least five people were killed Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in Aley in the eastern part of Beirut, according to officials. The attack also injured two others, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry. According to Anadolu Agency, the state-run news agency reported that warplanes targeted a house in the area between the towns of Baalchmay and Dhour El Aabadiyeh along the international road in the Aley district. This incident marks an escalation in Israel's air campaign in Lebanon, which has intensified since late September against what Israel claims are targets of Hezbollah. The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Lebanese group has seen a marked increase in hostilities since the start of Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. More than 3,200 people have been killed, and over 14,000 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023, according to Lebanese health authorities. The situation further escalated when Israel launched an incursion into southern Lebanon on October 1, 2023.
