Sidon: One person was killed and eight others were wounded in fresh Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Monday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese Health Ministry said. A ministry statement reported that the attack targeted the town of Ansarieh in Sidon, resulting in one fatality and four injuries, while an additional four individuals were wounded in Qlayleh in Tyre.
According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli ceasefire violations have resulted in numerous casualties among Lebanese citizens. The ongoing conflict sees Israel continuing to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, in addition to other areas it has held for decades. Despite a ceasefire agreement, military operations initiated by Israel in October 2023 escalated into full-scale conflict by September 2024, leading to over 4,000 deaths and approximately 17,000 injuries.
Lebanese officials have consistently urged for international pressure on Tel Aviv to cease its attacks and adhere to the ceasefire terms. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has reiterated its commitment to the truce, demanding the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the areas occupied during the recent conflict.
