Beirut: Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire deal in effect since November 2024, Lebanese media reported. The state news agency NNA reported that an Israeli airstrike targeted the al-Wazaniyeh area near Khallat Khazem in the Jabal al-Reihan region in southern Lebanon. Lebanese media also reported an Israeli airstrike on mountainous areas surrounding the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon's Bekaa region.

According to Anadolu Agency, local outlets published footage showing plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas, while reports indicated that Israeli aircraft continued to fly at low altitude over parts of the country following the strikes. The Israeli army claimed that the attacks targeted Hezbollah positions in several areas in Lebanon. There was no immediate information available regarding casualties or damage from these airstrikes.

Israeli ceasefire violations have resulted in hundreds of Lebanese casualties over time, with Israel continuing to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest conflict, in addition to other Lebanese areas held for decades. Israel began military operations against Lebanon in October 2023, escalating into a full-scale war by September 2024, which resulted in over 4,000 deaths and approximately 17,000 injuries.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly urged for international pressure on Tel Aviv to halt its attacks and adhere to the ceasefire terms. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has reiterated its commitment to the truce, emphasizing the need for Israel to withdraw from the areas occupied during the last war.
