Israeli Army Claims Self-Defense in Fatal Shooting of Palestinians

Sinjil: The Israeli army killed two Palestinians, alleging that snipers from Unit 636 targeted "terrorists" who were throwing stones at Israeli vehicles on a main road near the town of Sinjil in the occupied West Bank.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ella Waweya, the spokesperson for the Israeli army, stated on US social media company X's platform that the snipers "opened fire on the terrorists, neutralizing two of them" early Tuesday. The incident continues the ongoing cycle of violence in the region.

The use of force by Israeli security personnel, along with attacks by illegal settlers on Palestinian communities in the West Bank, has risen since the conflict in Gaza, which persisted for over two years starting in October 2023. These actions are often reported to occur under state protection.

The ongoing violence has resulted in significant casualties and disruptions. Official Palestinian figures indicate that at least 1,127 Palestinians have been killed, 11,700 injured, and 22,000 arrested since the escalation of hostilities.
