Tehran: The Israeli army announced it targeted a "command headquarters" in Tehran, marking a significant development in the ongoing military operations jointly conducted with the United States against Iran. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Israeli military detailed that warplanes struck key government and security buildings within the Iranian regime's command compound in central Tehran on Monday night.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army stated the attacks specifically targeted critical sites including the Presidential Palace, the Supreme National Security Council building, and the forum complex responsible for major security decisions. Additionally, the Iranian Military Officers' Training Institute and other significant infrastructure were also hit. During a news conference, Israeli army spokesperson Evy Devrin disclosed that approximately 100 fighter jets participated in the operation, utilizing over 250 types of munitions.

The military further alleged that the targeted complex is one of the 'most secure sites' in Iran, encompassing several streets in central Tehran, and is purportedly used for high-level leadership and security meetings, including discussions surrounding Iran's nuclear program. The Israeli army described the attack as the culmination of an 'extended process of intelligence gathering and reconnaissance,' aimed at 'expanding and deepening the damage inflicted on the regime's command and control system.'

There has been no immediate response from Iranian officials regarding the Israeli claims. This incident follows a surge in regional tensions after the US and Israel launched an extensive attack on Iran on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of several prominent Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf nations housing US military assets.
