Gaza: The Israeli army announced on Thursday that it had killed several senior officials of Hamas' internal security apparatus during an overnight strike in northern Gaza. The operation reportedly targeted key figures within Hamas, a group that Israel holds responsible for various security threats.

According to Anadolu Agency, the joint statement released by the Israeli army and the Shin Bet security service identified the individuals killed as Hassan Rabah Hassan Labad, Asim Shubair, Abdullaha Abu Kloub, and Mohammed Abu Mark. Hassan Labad was alleged to be the deputy head of Hamas' General Security Service and a pivotal figure in the organization's decision-making processes.

Israeli authorities asserted that these individuals were influential within the security apparatus, playing significant roles in shaping the group's strategic decisions. There has been no immediate response from Hamas regarding these claims.

The broader context of this operation is Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza, which have been described by some as genocidal. Since October 2023, nearly 73,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 173,000 have been injured, predominantly women and children, as per Palestinian statistics.

Despite the ceasefire that began on October 10, 2025, the Israeli military has conducted near-daily attacks, resulting in the deaths of 936 Palestinians and injuries to 2,903 others, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
