Israeli Army Concludes 14-Hour Nablus Raid, Injuring 38 Palestinians

Nablus: The Israeli army withdrew from the West Bank city of Nablus on Wednesday evening after a 14-hour raid that left 38 Palestinians injured, eyewitnesses reported to Anadolu. The operation saw significant clashes between the Israeli forces and local Palestinians, resulting in numerous injuries and the evacuation of several families from their homes.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that 29 individuals suffered from tear gas inhalation during the confrontations, three were injured by live ammunition and shrapnel, and six others were harmed by rubber-coated bullets. The clashes primarily occurred around the Old City of Nablus, where Palestinian youths engaged the army with stones. The military responded with live fire, rubber-coated bullets, and tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters.

Witnesses indicated that military reinforcements were stationed in and around Nablus, with troops conducting house-to-house searches across various neighborhoods. Some families were forcibly evacuated as their homes were transformed into military posts. The state news agency Wafa also reported incidents of physical assaults on Palestinians by Israeli forces in the town of Sebastia, located northwest of Nablus, during the operation.

The Nablus raid follows a similar operation in the central West Bank city of Ramallah on Tuesday, where the Israeli army withdrew after an hours-long raid that resulted in 58 Palestinians injured and three detained, according to medical sources.

Since the beginning of Israel's military actions in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Palestinian Health Ministry reports that over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and 7,000 injured in the occupied West Bank due to actions by Israeli forces and illegal settlers. In a pivotal ruling last July, the International Court of Justice deemed Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, calling for the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
