Nablus: The Israeli army arrested at least 14 Palestinians and demolished three homes during military operations across the West Bank on Tuesday, according to local sources. The operations, which targeted several areas, included the arrest of a woman and the demolition of homes in regions under Israeli control.
According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli forces entered the Ras al-Ain neighborhood of Nablus, where they stormed multiple buildings and detained eight Palestinians, including a woman. In Tubas province, the army conducted a raid in the town of Tammun, withdrawing hours later without making any arrests. In Jenin, forces arrested a former prisoner from Jenin city and another individual from Deir Ghazaleh. Additionally, in Tulkarem, a customs police officer and a young man were arrested from the Irtah suburb, along with two others from the village of Faroun.
The demolitions included a home in the village of Shuqba, west of Ramallah. The structure was reportedly built without a permit in Area C, an area under full Israeli control as per the 1995 Oslo II agreement. Two more homes were demolished in Deir Razih, in Hebron province, as part of ongoing Israeli policy against alleged unlicensed construction.
Palestinians argue that Israeli authorities impose severe restrictions that make it difficult to obtain building permits, while simultaneously expanding illegal settlements. The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported 341 demolitions affecting 923 Palestinians in the first half of this year. It also noted that 254 new demolition notices were issued for unlicensed construction.
International law, specifically the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, prohibits the destruction of civilian property except in cases of absolute military necessity. Despite this, home demolitions continue, contributing to escalating tensions in the region.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that Israeli demolitions displaced over 1,700 Palestinians in 2025. The situation has intensified following Israel's military actions in Gaza starting in October 2023, resulting in over 1,182 Palestinian deaths, around 13,000 injuries, and nearly 24,000 arrests during the same period.
