Tel Aviv: The Israeli army announced on Thursday that it successfully intercepted a missile launched by the Houthi group from Yemen, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army stated that its air force was able to intercept the missile aimed toward Israel. The interception led to sirens sounding across central areas of Israel, including Tel Aviv, as reported by Channel 12. The sirens were also activated in Jerusalem, following the army’s announcement of the missile threat from Yemen.

As a precautionary measure, takeoffs and landings at Ben Gurion Airport were temporarily suspended, a move reported by the Israeli daily, Yedioth Ahronoth. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage resulting from the missile launch.

The Houthi group has not issued any comments in response to the Israeli claim. This incident comes amidst a backdrop of increased missile and drone strikes by the Houthis on Israel after Tel Aviv resumed military operations in Gaza earlier this year.
