Khan younis: The Israeli army has killed Palestinian international runner Allam al-Amour after shooting him as he attempted to obtain aid in the city of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. Family sources reported that al-Amour was "martyred by Israeli army gunfire near what are known as American aid centers."

According to Anadolu Agency, al-Amour had achieved recognition by winning the bronze medal in the youth category at the West Asia Clubs Athletics Championship, which was hosted in Doha in March 2023. This event marked the tournament's first edition, bringing together 250 athletes from 12 clubs affiliated with West Asian federations. Al-Amour's accomplishment came in the 3,000-meter race.

The incident is set against a backdrop of escalating violence, with Israel's military operations having resulted in the deaths of nearly 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The campaign has severely impacted the enclave, leading to famine and rendering the area uninhabitable.
