Beirut: The Israeli army launched a fresh wave of airstrikes on multiple areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, marking the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement. Fighter jets targeted the towns of Mahmoudiyeh, Jabal al-Rafi', and Jarmaq in the Nabatieh district. Similar strikes were reported in al-Qatrani, Barghaz, and al-Rihan within the same district.

According to Anadolu Agency, in eastern Lebanon, Israeli warplanes executed two airstrikes along the eastern mountain range in the Baalbek district. Additionally, an Israeli drone struck a small truck in Hermel, although no injuries were reported amid increased drone activity over the city.

Anadolu Agency further reported that Israeli drones flew heavily and at low altitudes over villages and towns northeast of Tyre, particularly along both banks of the Litani River between Qasmiyeh and Tair Falsayeh. Another drone targeted an open area in al-Dhuhur, near the town of al-Hamiri in Tyre, with no injuries reported from the attack.

The Israeli army claimed responsibility for one of the strikes, stating it targeted a Hezbollah site allegedly used to launch rockets toward Israel. There has been no comment from Hezbollah regarding this claim.

The situation in southern Lebanon has seen escalating tensions for weeks, with the Israeli army intensifying nearly daily air raids under the pretext of targeting Hezbollah members and infrastructure. Since the attacks began in October 2023, evolving into a full-scale offensive by September 2024, more than 4,000 people have been killed and nearly 17,000 injured in Lebanon.
