Israeli Army Occupies Palestinian Homes as Military Posts in Hebron

Hebron:Israeli forces have occupied Palestinian homes, turning them into military barracks and observation posts in the city of Hebron. This action took place on the second day of a military operation in the southern occupied West Bank, leading to the forced evacuation of residents.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Israeli troops have taken over homes in the Khallat Manna and Dahiyat al-Zaytoun areas of southern Hebron. These homes are being used as barracks, and additional properties in other neighborhoods have been converted into observation posts, following the eviction of their residents.

The recent evictions are part of a broader operation that has involved the forced displacement of hundreds of families since Friday. The operation has also included extensive raids, road closures, and movement restrictions in the region.

In related incidents near Bethlehem, Israeli forces have blocked dirt roads leading to the town of Tuqu. They also fired tear gas and stun grenades at Palestinian vehicles on alternative routes. Due to ongoing closures, Palestinians have been forced to rely on unpaved roads for travel between communities.

The military actions in Hebron and nearby Halhul began after two Palestinians attacked an Israeli checkpoint, resulting in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to three others. Israeli forces killed both attackers, based on Israeli reports.

The Israeli army has indicated that the operation might continue for several days. It will involve house searches, interrogations, and efforts to locate weapons and so-called 'terrorist infrastructure.' The escalating military activities across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are part of broader conflicts since the onset of Israel's war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023. These activities have included killings, detentions, and the destruction of Palestinian properties.
