Gaza City: The Israeli army issued an immediate evacuation order for civilians in Gaza City on Wednesday amid a deadly onslaught on the Palestinian enclave. Military spokesman Avichay Adraee announced that Palestinians residing in the neighborhoods of Zeitoun, Tel al-Hawa, and Sheikh Ijlin are required to leave their areas and move to 'known shelters' located south of the Wadi Gaza stream. This directive comes as the Israeli military prepares to carry out attacks in these regions.

According to Anadolu Agency, the evacuation order was prompted by recent rocket fire originating from the area. The Israeli army reported that two rockets were launched from central Gaza early Wednesday. One of the rockets was intercepted by Israel's air defense system, while the second landed outside the Zimrat settlement near Gaza. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of these incidents.

The current escalation follows a surprise aerial campaign launched by the Israeli army on March 18, which has resulted in the deaths of 830 people and injuries to nearly 1,800 others. This campaign shattered a previously established ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in effect since January. Since October 2023, the brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza has claimed the lives of nearly 50,200 Palestinians, a majority of whom are women and children, and has left over 113,700 individuals injured.

The ongoing conflict has drawn international attention, with the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The warrants accuse both leaders of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
