Beit Rima:The Israeli army has uprooted 400 olive trees and bulldozed 31 dunams (3.1 hectares, 7.6 acres) of Palestinian-owned land in Beit Rima, located in northwestern Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. This operation comes as the olive harvest season approaches.

According to Anadolu Agency, the action follows a military order issued by Israeli authorities targeting two areas of land in the town. The order demanded the removal of wild vegetation and the uprooting of olive and other trees from these areas.

The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported that Israeli authorities have issued five military orders to remove trees and vegetation from 533.5 dunams of land across the Jenin, and Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorates in the northern and central West Bank. Since the beginning of 2026 through September 22, Israel has issued 51 such orders affecting 2,093 dunams of land.

The timing of the operation threatens the livelihood of thousands of Palestinian families who rely on olive trees as a primary source of income. The uprooting of trees, many of which have been cultivated over decades, is a significant loss for farmers.

Afrah Qadura, a resident of Beit Rima, expressed the emotional and economic impact of the uprooting, noting that the olive trees had been planted starting in the late 1960s. He highlighted the family's generational connection to the land and their determination to replant the trees, despite the challenges posed by the military orders.

Abdul Rahman al-Rimawi, mayor of Bani Zeid al-Gharbia, which includes Beit Rima, described the uprooting as a surprise and part of broader arbitrary practices against Palestinians. He called for international intervention to halt the destruction of the trees, which are vital to the local economy and cultural heritage. Rimawi noted ongoing communication with the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission to address the issue.
