Beirut: At least 21 people were killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon on Wednesday, bringing the overall death toll since last year to 3,386, the Lebanese Health Ministry said on Thursday. In a statement, the ministry added that 73 other people were wounded over the past day, raising the total number of injuries to 14,417 since October 2023. According to Anadolu Agency, Israel has launched a massive air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are Hezbollah targets. This marks an escalation from the year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and the Lebanese group, which has intensified since the start of Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip. On October 1, Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon, further exacerbating tensions in the region. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties and widespread devastation, with both sides continuing to exchange fire. The international community has expressed concern over the escalating v iolence and its impact on civilians, urging for a ceasefire and a return to diplomatic negotiations. However, the situation on the ground remains volatile, with little indication of an imminent resolution.
