Tel aviv: Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz convened with Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to deliberate on the occupation plan for Gaza City, amid ongoing tensions between the two officials. The meeting, held at the Defense Ministry's headquarters, included participation from senior military and security officials.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting comes in the wake of reported disputes between Katz and Zamir, particularly concerning senior army appointments and Zamir's previous reservations about the occupation plan. Zamir had previously raised concerns regarding the risks posed to Israeli captives and soldiers.

Katz emphasized during the meeting that the army is actively mobilizing forces and preparing to implement the Security Cabinet's recent decision to fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City. This mobilization continues despite international calls for a ceasefire, as the Israeli military has been engaged in a conflict in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, resulting in the deaths of over 61,700 Palestinians.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in the enclave.
