Beirut: One person was killed and others were injured in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, marking a new breach of a ceasefire in place since November 2024, the Health Ministry reported. The incident occurred on the Haris-Hadatha road in Bint Jbeil town, Nabatieh, where two missiles targeted a car.

According to Anadolu Agency, the strike coincided with Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir's tour of areas occupied by Israel in southern Lebanon. On the same day, Ali Larijani, head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, visited Beirut. Zamir disclosed that the Israeli army has conducted 600 airstrikes on Lebanon since the ceasefire agreement was signed on November 27, 2024.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which began in October 2023, escalated into a full-scale war by September 2024. The hostilities resulted in the deaths of approximately 4,000 people, including Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrallah, and injured around 17,000 others. Despite the ceasefire reached in November, Israeli forces have continued near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, citing Hezbollah activity as the reason.

Under the terms of the truce, Israel was expected to withdraw completely from southern Lebanon by January 26, but the deadline was extended to February 18 after Tel Aviv's refusal to comply. Currently, Israel maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
